Yes. I've done it. I've gone the virtual busking route.
It had to happen. If you don't ask, you won't receive. So, if you want to show your love, then click on the link and support the cause, if you can. If you can't then share this with someone who can.

planning for a tournament
It is four months until the Red Lion Challenge.
The KZN Rogue Squadron will be attending this tournament, come hell or high water.
We are training regularly, and have come up with some fundraising ideas, but this is where we are at right now:
I have full armour, but I want new armour for this tournament.
Cathy will fit my armour if I make more for myself, and there is a helmet that we can put together for her.
Bronwen will need everything except a helmet and gambeson.
Nicole will need everything except a cuirass and gambeson.
If our latest recruit is keen, she will need everything.
That is a shitload of armouring, although I think that if they pitch in, we can get it done in time.
Then there's the shields to make and paint, and the weapons.
Then we have to raise money for flights, and get visas.
Flights will cost us around R11 500 each, which is the same as a low-end starting salary. And that is not the same sweet deal that we got with Lufthansa through Flight Centre last year. That was awesome because we got to take two bags of 23kg each. Now it's only one bag each. Ouch, talk about having to travel light! I don't know how that's possible with armour.
Schengen visas will cost us R1025 each, although I don't know if we'll need Schengen visas specifically, or if there is an option for just a tourist visa for Luxembourg, which might be less expensive. Strangely, there is no answer when I call their number, so I can't find out.
That is a shitload of fundraising, but I think that if we do enough busking at events, we might be able to find some of it and self-fund the rest.
I know that nothing is ever easy, and nothing comes free, but right now, I have to put it out there: if there is someone with a time-turner
or a private jet ...
